The Logo
Some people ask “why the tree logo for a dental practice?”

Well, I was determined to steer away from the ubiquitous ‘smiling tooth’ type of logo and I went through the following thought process when I set up the practice:

I was setting up a practice from nothing (what we in the profession call a ‘squat’) in a very traditional English village setting. My values were those of solid traditional & professional standards of quality, and because I was starting from nothing, the acorn seemed a very appropriate logo.

So my first logo was a green acorn – to indicate great things growing from small beginnings.

After about five years the practice had become established and we needed to print some new stationary. I considered a re-branding of the image. It seemed very appropriate to progress from the acorn to the oak tree because the practice was now a viable, strong business with a good reputation.

My two special interests were to do with tooth roots (root canal therapy and dental implants), so I wanted the tree to show good strong roots and the oak is known for this. The enveloping arms indicate the total care that the practice offers. So the practice now has a good strong traditional English oak (with all the virtuous associations) with roots that appear to envelope and protect it.

I was somewhat perturbed to find the Conservative party creating a very similar logo for themselves nine years later! But imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Buckinghamshire Implant Dental Practice

jeremy woodcock

The practice has three nursing staff, two dental therapists, a periodontist, a practice receptionist and administrator to support Mr Woodcock.

Many of our patients are referred by other dentists for special items of treatment. If you are a patient who has been referred for treatment please visit the appropriate pages Root Canal Treatment or Dental Implants.

We also have a list of regular patients who return for their normal dentistry. We offer the full range of general practice dentistry to all of our patients but the practice has a special interest in advanced restorative dentistry and cosmetic dentistry. This means that we spend a large amount of our time replacing and rebuilding broken down teeth and improving smiles.

We do not perform orthodontic (tooth straightening) treatments here nor do we perform surgery which requires general anaesthetics. In these cases we arrange referral to local specialist practices or hospitals.

Jeremy is also qualified in clinical hypnosis. This can be used in many ways to assist in dental treatment. It is particularly useful for anxious patients and for those who tend to retch or gag during dental treatment. Please ask if you would like to know more about this aspect of our care.

Providing the highest level of care means that the practice is seeking to improve constantly in all respects. Jeremy has taken extensive additional qualifications and all dental nurses are qualified with British Dental Surgery Assistants examination.

You will find that your comments and questions on any aspects of our practice are always welcomed and we will be pleased to discuss your individual needs at any time.

Your Assurance of Quality

Our desire is to work to the highest quality in all aspects of the practice. The problem is that 'quality' means different things to different people. For this reason we have always sought to use standards set by outside bodies as our benchmarks. Most of these standards are also dynamic which means we have to actively keep up with improving standards over a period of time. We have chosen to meet the highest possible standards in all aspects of dental practice.

Clinical Standards

Jeremy is registered with the General Dental Council as a specialist in endodontics (root canal treatment) and is one of only a handful to be recognised as a specialist from general practice.

He has also been appointed as one of the first local course tutors for the implant training programme offered by the Royal College of Surgeons. This very new programme offers formal training in practice to those who wish to develop their skills in dental implantology.

Jeremy has been appointed an Examiner for the Implant Diploma examination of the Dental Faculty at the Royal College of Surgeons and is a mentor for the Fellowship examination. This means he will always be at the forefront of advances in clinical dentistry.

He is also registered as an expert witness in dentistry and is regularly called upon to provide reports and opinions in dental litigation cases.

Business Standards

The practice is now approved as an ‘Investor in People’ and was the first dental practice in Buckinghamshire to achieve this award. IiP is a nationally recognised standard, which applies to all business large and small. The IiP scheme lays down 12 indicators of business competence and management of people, which must be met and maintained for recognition of the award. The scheme also requires constant re-evaluation of these indicators. We have just undergone our third reassessment and will continue to proudly display our IiP laurels!
