Jeremy Woodcock

BDS, FFGDP(UK), MGDS RCS (Eng), MGDS RCS (Edin), Dip Implant Dent RCS Eng, Dip Clin Hyp.

Jeremy Woodcock qualified from Birmingham University Dental School in 1980. He spent five years as a dentist in the RAF, leaving with the rank of Squadron Leader in 1985. During this time he developed his interest in endodontic (root canal) treatment.

Jeremy has lectured extensively on dental subjects such as endodontics, implants, cracked teeth and treatment planning in the UK and abroad, as well as publishing articles and contributing chapters to textbooks and manuals. He has been an advisor on dental matters for a number of UK organisations. Jeremy was also a tutor on the first course of advanced implant dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is now an examiner in dental implantology.

He has been practising in Chalfont St Giles for 20 years but moved to The Old Bank House in 2008. Although still a general practice offering treatments in all aspects of dentistry, Dental Excellence specialises in advanced restorative dentistry, with more than half of Jeremy’s time being spent on major reconstructive treatment. (Root fillings, crowns, veneers, bridges and implants.)

Jeremy is especially interested in dental research within practice and when, in 1992, the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (FGDP) was formed at the Royal College of Surgeons, with the stated aim of improving standards of patient care by the continuing education of dentists, Jeremy was elected to the Faculty board, where he served for six years. In 1997, he was elected as Vice Dean of the Faculty. He was awarded the Fellowship of the FGDP(UK) in 2003.

Jeremy is now an examiner for the Implant Diploma at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and he is a mentor for the Diploma in Dental Implantology of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is registered with the General Dental Council as a specialist in endodontics (root canal treatment) and is one of only a handful to be recognised as a specialist from general practice.

He has also been appointed as one of the first local course tutors for the implant training programme offered by the Royal College of Surgeons. This very new programme offers formal training in practice to those who wish to develop their skills in dental implantology.
Jeremy is a mentor for the Fellowship examination of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. This means he will always be at the forefront of advances in clinical dentistry.
He is also registered as an expert witness in dentistry and is regularly called upon to provide reports and opinions in dental litigation cases.
